What is Qigong?

Qigong means cultivating energy.  It is a whole body system working on the mind, body and soul. 

Qi - vital energy       gong - skill that is cultivated through steady practice.

It is an ancient healthcare system from China which involves physical postures, breathing techniques and focuses intention.

Qigong is practised to gain more energy and vitality and to help maintain good health.  The exercises work with the meridian system which connect to all functions and organs of the body.  In Chinese medicine it is said that when Qi and blood flow  -   there is no pain'.

The gentle exercises help to reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality and enhance the immune system.  

Qigong exercise can be practised by anyone at any age, and can be adapted to suit ones needs. The exercises can be done slow or more quickly.  Qigong can be practised standing or sitting.

 

Most importantly Qigong is fun to do.  The best part of Qigong is feeling the 'Qi'.
